St Paul Hamstead

HHA Hamstead Housebound Action Luncheon Club

Hamstead Housebound Action ( H.H.A.) is a lunch club, which was formed in 1983 and is run entirely by volunteers. Our 35 members are elderly housebound people and we meet every other Wednesday at St Paul’s Church Community Centre. We provide a freshly cooked two-course lunch, friendship and fellowship.

A cup of tea or coffee is served on arrival and then the members can make their purchases at our “shop”.  We sell homemade cakes and preserves, greetings cards, sweets, nearly new clothes and books. Is season we also sell home-grown plants, fruit and vegetables. We also hold a raffle.

At Christmas we have a traditional Christmas lunch, followed by the singing of Christmas Carols and songs by local school children. The festivities end with a visit from Santa who presents the children and all our members with a gift.

During the year we occasionally take our members out for a pub lunch.

We are a self-supporting charity, (Registered Charity No 513931), and we rely on willing volunteers and donations to continue our work. We are always open to offers of help. Both financial and practical are always welcome and we encourage more people to join our team.  We lead a team of 18 dedicated volunteers who provide food, fellowship, and fun to the local Members who attend our club every Weds fortnight.  We are up to our full capacity of volunteers at the moment.
